AIRPLANES: GROUND, GRUMMAN SOMEWHERE IN KOREA ?? Two means of survival which have played important roles in the successful rescue and evacuation of hundreds of United States Air Force and UN ground force personnel are represented here as an H?5 helicopter lowers gently for a landing near an SA?16 "Albatross" amphibian. Both types are assigned to the veteran U.S. Air Force 3rd Air Rescue Squadron, and often team their talents to perform spectacular rescues and evacuations. On many occasions, the tiny "windmills" have rescued troops from rough terrain near the fighting lines, and speedily evacuated them to airstrips form which the longer?range SA?16s can take off to complete the journey to rear area hospitals. September 1951.
